Question by Sid007: How to make the computer speak to me?
Actually, what I want is to put a file into the startup of my computer, so that as soon as I boot, my computer speaks “Good Morning Assassin”, like they do in sci-fi movies. Is there a way to do this?
One possible way I have thought about is to narrate the message through my “text to speech” and record it and then somehow covert it into an mp3 file that plays automatically. How to do this, if this is possible?
Please note that I do not have a microphone

If you have XP, you can change the start up sound to your desired speech. There are many text to speech software but it will hardly give you a natural tone. So i suggest get some friend (probably a female) of yours to record the speech for you. There are many cyber cafe or Internet cafe that have mic for voice chat. You can go there and record your speech with your friend.
You will not need MP3 for this. WAV will work fine.
To change the startup sound do this :
Go to–> Control panel> Sounds and audio devices> “sounds” tab
In the “Program events” list find and select “Start windows”
Now click “Browse” and select the recorded file.
Use YAKiToMe! http://www.yakitome.com to convert the “Good Morning Assassin” text to speech in a voice of your choosing. Download the audio file produced by YAKiToMe! and assign it to the Start Windows sound. On windows XP, this is accessed via Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices Properties. Click on the Sounds tab. Scroll down to the Start Windows entry and change the value to the downloaded YAKiToMe! file.
